Lungs

When we breathe, human lungs intake oxygen that passes through small structures that resemble a bunch of grapes called alveoli.  Carbon dioxide, a waste product of the cell cycle, is removed from the blood through the alveoli and released when we exhale.  The rate of our breathing is controlled by our sympathetic and parasympathic nervous systems which are mostly involuntary.  In heightened emotional states our breathing rate changes.
